Simplicity (TRI Ark-1)

Layout 1

This 2 CD set is a history of probably one of most underground units of the late 1970’s.

It brings together the best of their 5 cassette albums & most of their vinyl release from 1980, ‘Persian Version’- now a collectors item!
The Messthetics people chose one their songs  Noise in My Kitchen, for one of their collections.

Psyched up to the max, it’s a most enjoyable listen, & all the more wonderful because these guys conjured songs out of their minds & recorded them all first take!

Sort of Amon Düül but not!

35 tracks inc. all the tracks from the rare Persian Version vinyl:
Metropolis Radio, Field Hermit, Labbasounds, Place for Us, Wrecked Rectors, Hypocrisy & more!

The London Look 2007/8 (TRI 13)

Layout 1

This cool track was chosen from their debut album ‘Hanging Baskets of Babylon’ for the full remix/reinterpretation treatment.
(‘Hanging Baskets…’ was put out by another label).
The remixes etc are by Scanner, A-Soma, now, Duke Spook & UR Ibi.

Great words also, for this should have been ‘a hit’ single in anyone’s world.

Curse & Make Up (TRI 12)

Covers ....

The 3rd album, chock-a-block full of great songs including the classic Cold Calling.
The band lost it’s original bassist, Tomoko Yamashita, & became a 5 piece that sounded like ‘an intensile shock wave of gutter crawling psychedelic tinged grunge jazz punk’.
Well, we liked it!
The band continued after the 5 piece called it a day, & much material went unrecorded in the studio.

Highly recommended album!

tracklist
1. Part Of The Picture
2. Zurich 5
3. Cold Calling
4. Do You Feel Lucky?
5. Central Line Arsehole Recitation
6. Danzig
7. Zurich 2

Growing Old & Absurd in East London (TRI 11)

Covers ....

This is Diary’s 2nd album, taking the form of a song cycle, recorded in 1998.

The band retained it’s first line up & it seems more ‘mature’ in feel, containing some beautiful music i.e. Swan Planet & the’ ‘controversial’ Just Another Feminist Hero.

Eight tracks recorded with the first line up, worthy of more attention….

tracklist
1. Coldharbour Light
2. Feminist Hero
3. Swan Planet
4. Fingers
5. Incident Near Aldgate
6. Mile End Wasted
7. Docklands Light Railway Children

Net The Serf (TRI 8)

A3

This is a 15 track action packed collection from Mr. No One.
Sounding, in places, like an off kilter Syd Barrett & a refugee from a Ladbroke Grove band in the ’70’s, he deals with contemporary & temporary themes. With his finger on the pulse, this album is worthy of anyone’s attention…

The Freedom Offensive (TRI 7)

7

Available as CD or download

Recorded in response to the Iraq war situation, ‘the Fibres’ really let rip, with a new line up, that’s all funked & jazzed up in a hard Soft Machine / Miles Davis / krautjazz sort of way.

Recorded live in the studio, it’s no holds barred & radical….

Concatenations (TRI 6)

6

This is the 7th album by ‘the Fibres’, who decided to re-enter the studio for this one.
As the title suggests the tracks are linked, in some way, to create a very disciplined, film like imagery.

This one takes your mind to places…

Brown Envelope (TRI 5)

5

Diary were a different kettle of fish than that  to be found on the London gig circuit in the late ’90s & early noughties.
Fronted by sometime Fluxus poet John Plant, their first album ‘Got to Get In Love (By Tuesday)’ was described by Wire reviewer Ben Watson as ‘the only prole art threat in town’. Post punk & art rock are lazy descriptives of a unique sounding band. John Peel put an appeal out on his radio show for more by Diary, after losing a demo tape.
Chronologically the last of their four albums, gathering up loose ends of various line ups & rare tracks. (See other entries)

tracklist
1. The Old Git Song
2. Mozart
3. Hyperballad
4. Docklands Light Railway Children
5. Radio Silence
6. High Holborn Silver Lining

Sphärenklangen (TRI 4)

Before ‘the Fibres’ & Scanner appeared, they recorded a studio album together >under the name Koven-oe in 1994.
This recording features proto Scanner rhythms, techno type beats & loops, alongside his earliest ‘found speech’ material.
There are also some ‘out there’ soundscapes assembled into a very coherent listening experience…

2. L.D.T.
3. Teledrone
4. Sadoe
5. Mandingo

The 5th Anniversary Concerts (TRI 1/3)

3

This live concert is from the same time & venue as the previous entry. Due to the long sets, a planned duet with Lol had to be foregone.
This set is with the Hawk legend Nik Turner, blowing free & hard.
On some passages Nik also plays sublime flute in ‘quite a psychedelic 58 minute epic’ of a set…

The 5th Anniversary Concerts (TRI 1/2)

2

This live concert features soprano saxophone master Lol Coxhill in an almost sonic, industrial sounding 48 minute set, recorded Upstairs at The Garage in March 1999.
Lol played eleven times with ‘the Fibres’, so they must have been doing something right!

The 5th Anniversary Concerts (TRI 1/1)

1

For their 5th year together, in 1999, ‘the Fibres’ decided to hold some live concerts with their friends.
This one features the telephonic enigma that is Scanner at the height of that infamy with his beats & loops.
‘The Fibres’ provide their best improvised soundscapes in the AMM mould.
